Bio

Professor Scott Gaffney comes to Southeastern University with 19 years of Social Work experience in multiple agencies, departments, and organizations. He began his early Social Work career with emphasis on child welfare, family and substance abuse counseling. Scott worked for the Department of Children and Families, Dependency Court, and Family builders while focusing on protection and stabilization of the family unit. He continued his advocacy for patients and families while working as a hospital social worker working in the critical care, cancer, surgery, emergency, and trauma units.

Scott most recently worked for a local hospice agency where he held titles of clinical social service specialist, social services coordinator, and social services manager. He brings a passion for patient's rights, end of life issues, human dignity, and self-determination.

Scott holds a Florida license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Qualified Clinical Supervisor. His passion in Social Work has also included camp administrator and counselor for bereaved children, Volunteer and Bereavement manager. Scott cross teaches in both the BSW and MSW program specializing in the practice oriented courses including Psychopathology, Advanced Clinical Practice with Individuals, Couples, Groups, and Families.
