Biography
Dr. Plastow is a former CPA/financial advisor for a national CPA firm, working with the Denver Broncos, Denver Nuggets, and other professional sports teams, but for over two decades, he has been teaching at the university level, first at Dakota Wesleyan University and then at Southeastern University. Dr. Plastow was the chair of Southeastern's business department for five years as it grew from seven students to 160 students, multiplied its academic majors, and added an evening program.
Dr. Plastow has been a long-time college basketball coach, and his teams had a combined record of 314-218 over 20 years of formal coaching. At Southeastern, Dr. Plastow spent time coaching both the men's basketball team and the women's team. In nine seasons at Southeastern, he was recognized four times as a coach of the year, with five regional championships, six national tournament appearances, eight 20+ win seasons, and a Southeastern coaching record of 198-124.
An ordained minister with the Assemblies of God, Dr. Plastow and his wife, Shannon, spend their summers doing missions work in the Alaska Bush. They have 10 grown children and 20 grandchildren, including their daughter Sharla, who was a standout accounting major and basketball player at Southeastern. Dr. and Mrs. Plastow have appeared in two national broadcasts with Dr. James Dobson's Focus on the Family. Dr. Plastow also serves as a seminar speaker and participates in FCA and other basketball camps, and he is active in Auburndale Life Church and the Lakeland Rotary Club.
Dr. Plastow teaches the following courses at Southeastern: Not-for-Profit Accounting, Advanced Accounting I, Accounting II, Leadership and Ethical Management (MBA program), Intro to Sports Management, and Auditing I and II. He is published in the area of Sports Management.
