Frequently Asked Questions
Main campus, online, and partner site sophomores may take up to 6 credits per semester, juniors up to 12 credits per semester, and seniors up to 15 credits per semester.
They may take most of our freshman (1000 level) or sophomore (2000 level) courses that do not require a prerequisite.
Online courses are asynchronous (not “live”) so students can work on them at their convenience in their MyFire Student Learning Portal to complete weekly assignments. Each week runs from Wednesday through Tuesday night at midnight (EST). Online course instructors are available by email to assist their students. Online tutoring is also available.
Main campus, online, and partner site students must complete a new application each semester. This is because parents request their student’s classes through the application process and a student’s GPA may also change between semesters, possibly affecting eligibility. High school students request classes through their school guidance counselor.
Look with your student through our degree programs in their areas of interest. Visit catalog.seu.edu and select the Traditional catalog (for face-to-face programs) or the Unrestricted catalog (for online programs) along with the corresponding academic year. Then select Programs of Study to see the Foundational (general education) course requirements for each degree program. Students who are main campus, online, and at partner sites may take any of these that do not require a prerequisite. Campus-based students select from the dual enrollment courses offered at their high schools.
Yes. Their location will be the name of their partner site on the application, but then they can request classes at their Partner Site campus and/or online. Simply locate classes by selecting that site on the Course search (see below).
To check for class availability, visit jics.seu.edu and scroll down to Course Search. On the Course Search page, select the desired Term at the top. Change the Division to Undergraduate then click below Campus and type in Online or your location and select Search to see the course schedule.
No, but you do request them. Parents request classes on the agreement form that is emailed to them after their student completes the first two parts of the application. After the final Homeschool Parent or Guidance Counselor Approval has been received, students are registered for classes by the dual enrollment coordinator and sent a confirmation email.
Yes! To complete all 62 credit hours of an associate degree by high school graduation, students complete approximately 15 credit hours (5 classes) per semester beginning in their junior year. Please contact email@example.com if you would like to speak with our dual enrollment coordinator about this option.
