In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, SEU’s Carrión Hispanic Leadership Center will be hosting a lecture series on Thursday, September 15, at its Lakeland campus.
The series is intended to recognize and honor Hispanic Heritage Month, which takes place this year from September 15 to October 15, and highlight the contributions that the Hispanic community has made to theological education, ministry, and advocacy within the U.S.
The event will kick off at 9 a.m., as Rev. Dr. Gabriel Salguero, founder and president of the National Latino Evangelical Coalition (NaLEC), will be speaking in SEU’s chapel service in Bush Chapel. This will be followed by a 10:35 a.m. lecture featuring Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Conde-Frazier in Bush Chapel, and a 1:35 p.m. lecture in the Buena Vida West Auditorium featuring Dr. Wilmer Estrada Carrasquillo and Rev. Daniel Montañez.
Conde-Frazier is the director of the Association for Hispanic Theological Education (AETH) and will be speaking on the topic of the Latino church and theological education. Carrasquillo is the director of the Center for Latino Studies (CLS) at Pentecostal Theological Seminary (PTS), and Montañez is a current Ph.D. student at Boston University. They will be speaking on the topic of the Latino church and migration.
