Why SEU?

Choose Your Learning Format

Earn your degree through the format that fits your life and ministry.

  • Fully Online — Includes virtual faculty engagement + peer connections
  • Hybrid Cohort —Online learning + in-person residencies twice per year with members of your cohort

Extended doctoral project timeline

The DMin at SEU allows students to work on their doctoral project throughout the program, providing them the full benefit of mentorship throughout the project, plus peer support and a more manageable workload.

Competitively Priced Tuition

Tuition for this unique program is competitively priced, making it both affordable and accessible.

Ministry enhancing

The program is intended to enhance the competency and understanding in ministry. It is designed to provide leaders actively involved in ministry with advanced, innovative training in the practice of biblically-sound, theologically-based, and spiritually-motivated ministry. Students don't have to take time away from their current ministries while they pursue their degree. In fact, the DMin actually requires active involvement in a current ministry.

Please note that travel expenses are not included in listed tuition rates.

Program Benefits

No matter how you choose to earn your DMin, your SEU experience will transform you — and your ministry — in the best possible ways.

Hybrid Cohort

Fully Online

Online learning + residencies with members of your cohort twice annuallyFully online learning complemented with virtual faculty engagement + peer connections

Cohort Support

As you encourage each other throughout your DMin journey, your peers within your cohort will become an essential component to your success.

Peer Support
Groups within the online program meet virtually on a regular basis to provide feedback, mentorship, and encouragement.

Relational Learning

This program is offered with intensive five-day-long cohorts, offered two or three times a year, for a total of six meetings. The program involves significant experiential components and individualized, contextual instruction.

Flexible Learning

Coordinating your time between your ministry and personal life is a balancing act, and you may wonder how classwork could reasonably be added to the mix. Taking your DMin classes online offers unparalleled flexibility, making it easier to fit your coursework into your busy schedule.

Doctoral Mentor

A unique highlight of this program is reflected in each student’s opportunity to work closely with a doctoral mentor to assess goals and challenges in the student’s own ministry. This mentorship extends throughout the student’s journey in the program.

Faculty & Peer Mentors

Just because you’re learning online doesn’t mean you’re not part of the SEU community. Through a unique blend of virtual group meetings with your peers and faculty, you will reap the benefits of being mentored while also having the opportunity to provide mentorship to others who are sharing in your journey.

Spiritual Formation & Health of the Leader: In-Person

The hybrid cohort version of this course is structured as an in-person spiritual retreat. This experience provides principles and practices to grow and maintain the spiritual, emotional, physical and relational health of the ministry leader, and provides a strong sense of camaraderie within the cohort.

Spiritual Formation & Health of the Leader: Choice of Format

Students in the online DMin have the option to attend the in-person retreat alongside hybrid cohort members. Or, students can participate in a fully virtual retreat facilitated by our certified spiritual directors. (Both options provide comparable course content.)

.

Established Timeline

One of the most inviting features of the DMin hybrid cohort is that this 36-credit hour program is designed so that it can be completed in three years by those in full time ministry.

Personalized Timeline

This 36-credit hour program can be completed in as little as three years, even by those in full time ministry. Need more time? That’s what makes online learning so beneficial — you can take your classes and complete your doctoral project at your own pace.

Cohort Support

New cohorts form each fall, meaning your peers who started their degree journey with you, and supported you every step of the way, will graduate right alongside you.
