Bio

Dr. Christine Sherretz is a new faculty member in the College of Education at Southeastern. Dr. Sherretz has 34 years of experience in education. Most recently she was the principal at Johnson Primary, at Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base. Prior to that she served as the assistant principal at Stowers Elementary at Fort Benning, Georgia and assistant principal at Van Voorhis Elementary at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

Dr. Sherretz has worked as an instructional systems specialist in social studies and science for the Department of Defense Education Agency (DoDEA). Prior to her time working for the DoDEA she worked as an Assistant Professor of Literacy at the University of Louisville, Director of the Watertown Extension Site for SUNY Potsdam, and Instructor at Trinity Bible College. She has taught 1st grade, Special Education, and Language Arts in Germany, Missouri, and Georgia.

Dr. Sherretz’s passion is ensuring that all children receive a quality education through excellence in teaching. She has written grants for summer literacy programs, books for reading enrichment, and childcare centers. Her research interests include university/school partnerships and reading/writing connections.

She is married to Colonel Scott R. Sherretz (Ret). They met at Southeastern in 1985 and were married in Bush Chapel a year later. Together they have served in military communities worldwide where her husband was an Assemblies of God Chaplain. Dr. Sherretz has three grown children: Joshua, Kaleb, and Samuel. When not working, Dr. Sherretz likes to hike in National Parks with her family.
