Fredric W. Rohm

Bio

Dr. Rohm came to Southeastern in 2007 after retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel from a career in the United States Army. He served in Infantry, Ordnance, and Psychological Operations units. In addition to academic degrees, Dr. Rohm graduated from numerous Army leadership schools, including the U.S. Army Ranger School.

Dr. Rohm brings 20 years of leading and managing into what he teaches. He has run several organizations throughout his career, including rifle and mortar platoons in the Infantry; a maintenance facility that fixed all manner of military equipment; and the logistics staff section for a 4,500-soldier organization that provided maintenance, supply, and transportation support in Hawaii and throughout the Pacific. Dr. Rohm’s magnum opus was commanding a military mountaineering training company and small Army garrison on the island of Cheju in South Korea. He supervised 20 American and 30 Korean employees, both soldiers and civilians, and taught over 2,700 U.S. and Korean soldiers. Dr. Rohm commanded a psychological operations company and served as battalion executive officer, in a unit focused on influencing foreign audiences during military operations throughout the Middle East. He finished his career at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, at both United States Central Command and Special Operations Command.

Dr. Rohm has worked and lived in seven Middle Eastern countries, El Salvador, Germany, South Korea, the Philippines, and Hawaii. He teaches leadership and management-related courses, focusing on motivation, teamwork, and cross-cultural relations. His academic interests are being a servant as both leader and follower in local and cross-cultural settings, experiential outdoor learning, and unconventional forms of education. Dr. Rohm and his wife serve in their church and local community, and homeschooled their five children.
