Dr. Gail Roaten is an Associate Professor in the Professional Counseling Program, Dept. of Psychology and Human Services at Southeastern University. Dr. Roaten has been a counselor educator for 19 years in both online and face to face formats. She also worked as a school counselor for 12 years, mostly with secondary students. In her professional work, she has been the clinical director of two on-campus university counseling centers. Dr. Roaten areas of counseling specialization and research include counseling children and adolescents, school counselor identity and best practices, and effective supervisor characteristics. Dr. Roaten is a member of several state and national professional counseling organizations including ACA, ACES, and ASCA. She recently served as President of the Association for Counseling Children and Adolescents (ACAC). Dr. Roaten has presented on research and best practices in counseling and counselor education at numerous state and national conferences. Dr. Roaten is an Licensed Professional Counselor and Board Approved Supervisor in Texas. She has supervised over 30 interns/associates in their journeys toward full licensure. Dr. Roaten teaches virtually from her home office in Central Texas, where she and her husband reside. She has three grown children and six grandchildren.
