Bio

Pianist Seoyun Rho received her Bachelor of Music from Oberlin Conservatory, went on to earn a Master of Music from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, and later completed the Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Literature at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she also focused on piano pedagogy. Her principal teachers were Haewon Song, Karen Shaw, and Timothy Ehlen.

As a performer, Rho has built a versatile career on both solo and collaborative stages. She has given recitals in Seoul, Daegu, Leipzig, Gijón, Cleveland, and Gainesville, and has performed widely in chamber settings with strings, winds, and choirs. In addition to her concert work, she has been closely involved in church music, serving congregations in Illinois and Florida.

Teaching has always been central to her career. She has held teaching positions at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music and the University of Illinois, while also running a private studio for students of all ages. She is currently on faculty at Shining Star Music Academy in Gainesville, Florida.
