SEU will hold a commencement ceremony for the fall class of 2021 on Friday, December 10, at 4:30 p.m. on Victory Field on our Lakeland campus.
With a total of 734 graduates, the fall class of 2021 is SEU’s 84th graduating class — bringing up the total number of graduates from the university to 20,648. The graduates come from Florida, 35 other states, and 16 countries, including Argentina, China, Kenya, the Netherlands, Poland, and Scotland. In addition, 93 of the graduates participating in the ceremony come from 33 of SEU’s extension site locations.
Also among the graduating class are nine students from the Watoto Christian Hall in Uganda, where SEU has established an academic partnership.
The ceremony will include remarks from Dr. Gabriel Salguero, president and founder of the National Latino Evangelical Coalition (NaLEC), a national coalition of several thousand evangelical congregations in the United States. Salguero is also the pastor of The Gathering Place, a Latino-led, multi-ethnic Assemblies of God congregation in Orlando, Fla. Previously, he served as the director of the Institute for Faith and Public Life at Princeton Theological Seminary.
First-generation college student Kayla Ferreira will be the student commencement speaker. Ferreira is an Intercultural Studies major and an active member of the School of Honors. Serving in various leadership roles throughout her time at SEU, Ferreira has worked in residence life, admission, and SEU Missions. After graduation, she will be working as the social media director at Victory Church in Lakeland. She ultimately plans to pursue her call to vocational missions work in Brazil.
The ceremony is open to graduates and their families. It will also be livestreamed at SEU.edu/graduation.
