We asked a few current students what brought them to SEU, and here’s what they had to say.
A Campus Filled with Joy and Purpose
Alaina Bludworth, ‘27, who is double-majoring in communication & ministerial leadership, knew from the moment she toured SEU that it was where she belonged.
“From the first time I came here, I could sense that the Holy Spirit just filled this campus,” she said. “There’s always something fun to do, and everyone’s so happy and excited to see you.”
Beyond the welcoming atmosphere, Alaina was also drawn to SEU’s academic offerings. “I love the diversity of majors you can choose from. SEU has the right programs to prepare me for the career I believe God has called me to.”
Finding a Community That Feels Like Home
For many students, choosing a college isn’t just about academics, but finding a place where they truly belong. For Kyle Milligan, a Kinesiology/Pre-Physical Therapy major from the class of ’27, it was SEU’s strong sense of community that first caught his attention.
“The community I saw online sparked my interest, and I thought, ‘this seems like a really cool place to be.’ I always wanted to have a college experience from a Christian perspective, so a good community plus a Christian school…SEU fits both!” Kyle shared.
Since arriving on campus, Kyle has experienced that community firsthand. “SEU gives you so many opportunities to step out of your comfort zone, grow, and learn. The people here are so accepting and loving — you can have just met someone for the first time, and they genuinely care about you. It’s a place where you feel at peace.”
A Place to Grow in Faith
For Hope Kolbfleisch, a missional leadership major who will graduate in 2028, her journey to SEU began with an unexpected moment of inspiration.
“When I was at Winter Jam last year and saw a video about SEU, it stirred something in my heart. I didn’t even know where SEU was at the time, but I felt God’s hand on my decision to apply,” Hope recalled.
Since becoming a student, she has found countless ways to get involved and grow both spiritually and academically. “There’s so much you can be part of, even as a freshman. I’ve had opportunities to serve, be the hands and feet of Jesus, and walk alongside people at different stages of their faith journey. It’s just so beautiful.”
Hope has also appreciated the close relationships students can build with professors. “My favorite academic part of SEU is how connected the professors are to their students. They really want to know us and understand our hearts.” When asked to describe SEU in one word, Hope simply said: “Peace.”
