We’re so proud of SEU Worship for representing Southeastern University on the national stage at the 56th annual GMA Dove Awards in Nashville, Tennessee!
This year, SEU Worship received Dove Award two nominations: the album Move of God was nominated for Worship Album of the Year, and a song featured within the album, What a God, was nominated for Worship Recorded Song of the Year.
From walking the red carpet to performing live on stage, SEU Worship celebrated an unforgettable evening of worship, creativity, and community — all centered on giving glory to God.
Performing What a God Live in Nashville
One of the highlights of the night was SEU Worship’s live performance of What a God at the pre-telecast of the awards in Nashville. The song has deeply resonated with listeners around the world, and seeing it brought to life at the Dove Awards was a powerful moment of praise and gratitude.
Written in collaboration with friends from ONE HOUSE, “What a God” captures a posture of awe and reverence toward the Lord. As the team shared when interviewed on the red carpet, “We wanted a song that was purely about being in awe of God. Co-writer and guest singer/worship leader Roosevelt Stewart brought the bridge idea — ‘If the highest place I reach is at Your feet, then we’ve done it all’ — and that just summed it up perfectly.”
Conversations on the Red Carpet
Before the ceremony, SEU Worship shared their excitement during red carpet interviews, reflecting on their first Dove Award nominations and the journey that led to this moment.
Worship leader Chelsea Plank shared, “It’s the most surreal thing to be here, looking around and seeing artists I listened to as a child and now look up to as leaders in the faith. To be nominated among them is such a huge honor. We’re so grateful to see how God has blessed this.”
When asked about the Move of God album, guitarist and songwriter Austin Shuffitt added, “What I love about Move of God is how it’s blessed the church. We write these songs with and for college students, and it’s been amazing to see how they’ve made their way into local churches and how God has used them to impact people in a fresh way.”

Global Worship Movement
During the same interview, the group reflected on what God is doing among college students today, as well as around the world, “There’s such a hunger in this generation. Young people are desperate for a move of God,” they shared.
“So much of this album came from that hunger on our campus…late-night chapels that went until 3:00 AM, moments of spontaneous worship.”
“It’s really born out of what we’ve seen God do here, but also out of a recognition that He’s moving in other places across the globe, too.”
A Night to Remember
From the red carpet to the stage, SEU Worship’s presence at the Dove Awards was a celebration of creativity, faith, and the incredible ways God is moving through worship across generations.
National Praise
In addition to breaking streaming records and reaching millions of streams across multiple streaming platforms, SEU has been represented on a national music stage before. In 2022, two SEU alumni were featured at the Grammy Awards, and SEU Worship appeared in the Pre-Jam lineup of the 2024 and 2025 Winter Jam tours.
In April of 2025, Relevant Magazine also featured SEU Worship as one of their 7 Worship Collectives Quietly Shaking Up the Church Music Scene.
