SEU to Hold Annual Constitution Day Event

Southeastern will host its annual celebration of Constitution Day on Friday, September 17, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The event is free and open to the public, and will be held on campus in room A210 of the Education building.

Dennis A. Ross, director of the American Center for Political Leadership (ACPL), will be speaking on the topic, “Why the Constitution Requires Us and Our Faith to Survive.” The event is offered by the College of Arts & Media’s Department of Humanities with the purpose of raising awareness of the significance of the nation’s oldest and most foundational document.

In addition to directing the ACPL, Ross also works as a professor in the political science program. He previously served as a Florida State Representative from 2000 to 2008. He then went on to serve four terms in the United States Congress and retired in January of 2019. During his time in congress, Ross served as a Sr. Majority Whip and on the Financial Services Committee, the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, the Judiciary Committee, as well as the Education and Workforce Committee.
