Dr. David Thomas serves as Missionary in Residence at SEU. He is a veteran pastor, missionary, and professor of theology. First appointed as an Assemblies of God missionary to Latin America in 1992, he served first (and to this day primarily) in Ecuador as a pastor-educator, leading churches, teaching, and administrating Bible colleges. After obtaining his Ph.D. in New Testament theology, Dr. Thomas served regionally throughout the Spanish speaking world as a mentor-educator. Domestically, Dr. Thomas has taught at the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, chaired the missions program at Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington, and has instructed in several Assemblies of God district-level schools of ministry. He has also served pastorally in Kentucky, California, and Washington State.
Dr. Thomas remains active as a field missionary and travels regularly to Latin America to minister and teach. He is the author of several books and a number of his titles have been (or are being) translated into Spanish and other languages for the benefit of the church in other parts of the world.
Dr. Thomas is married to Patti, his wife of over 35 years, and has three children. He loves all things C.S. Lewis, believes The Lord of the Rings should be read and not watched, and thinks the short story as a genre is due for a big comeback. He enjoys going on walks with his wife, has recently waved the white flag to coffee over tea as his favorite morning beverage, and really likes dogs, especially his. A trained artist, he likes to paint and draw when he can find the time, which is hardly ever.
