Dr. McNaughton began serving as Professor of Old Testament and Spiritual Formation at Barnett College of Ministry and Theology in 2016.
Before that he served in various pastoral and teaching roles in the Northeast Region of United States for over 30 years. He was the founder and lead pastor of Spring Valley Community Church in Royersford, Pennsylvania, where he served for 6 years (2005-2011). He continues to serve as a consultant and coach for Learning to Follow Ministries (2009-present), which helps leaders develop healthy, discipling, and multiplying churches.
He co-authored Learning to Follow Jesus and The Spiritual Coaching Toolkit. He trained church planters with the Church Multiplication Network of the Assemblies of God (2010-2011). He also served as a Church Ministries and Biblical Studies professor at the University of Valley Forge for over a decade (1995-2007). He completed his PhD in Old Testament at the University of Toronto. The title of his dissertation was A Comparative Analysis of Three Greek and Hebrew Versions of 2 Samuel 21:1-14.
Dr. McNaughton has been ordained minister of the Assemblies of God since 1991. He married his wife, Amy, over 40 years ago. They have two adult children and three grandchildren. He enjoys cycling, sports, reading, traveling, and Mexican food.
