Before joining SEU full-time in 2021, Dr. Henson served as a lead pastor in the Church of God for 15 years and is licensed as an Ordained Bishop. Since 2015, he has served multiple universities teaching organizational and Christian leadership, ministry, and biblical studies. He was honored as SEU's 2021-2022 Faculty Excellence in Scholarship Award winner.

Dr. Henson serves as the Co-editor of the Journal of Biblical Perspectives in Leadership and has published multiple academic books, book chapters, and journal articles, including
• Biblical Organizational Spirituality (2022)
• Historic Christian Followership (2021)
• Biblical Organizational Leadership (2021)
• Modern Metaphors of Christian Leadership (2020)
• Exegetical Analysis: A Practical Guide for Biblical Research in the Social Sciences (2020)
• Evaluating Employee Performance through Christian Virtues (2018)

His greatest joy in higher education is seeing his students discover their Divine Design and walking in their calling. He encourages students to exercise their voice through academic publication, research, and presentations. As a pastor and educator, he has a heart for Christian higher education: working with students to help them achieve their academic goals while also providing pastoral encouragement.

Dr. Henson is passionate about the local church and is actively involved in ministry, serving as a small group leader at his local church while frequently speaking in other venues throughout the year. He currently serves as a mentor and coach to pastors, educators, and Christian leaders on five continents, and, as the opportunity arises, he serves as an organizational and church consultant.
