Professor Almand is a Tampa area native having been born and raised in Brandon. He attended Bloomingdale High School before heading to the University of South Florida for both his undergraduate and graduate degrees. While at USF he conducted research into magnetocaloric effects in nanostructures. He began his research as an experimentalist but later transitioned into computational physics.
While in school, Professor Almand, discovered that he had a great love for teaching when his calculus professor asked him if he’d be interested in tutoring some of his other students. He began his teaching career at the high school level where he taught mathematics, physics, and computer science for 9 years. In 2019 God led him to SEU and he is still very excited to be here.
Professor Almand’s interests include studying mathematics and physics, programming games for mobile devices, and spending time with his family.
