Kelly Southmayd came to Southeastern University in 2019 after several decades of work as a Speech-Language Pathologist in a variety of medical settings. Most of her career was spent evaluating and treating victims of Traumatic Brain Injury. She has a passion for assisting individuals with regaining their independence and developing strategies to compensate for cognitive deficits. Kelly has presented at various state and national conventions regarding the use of functional activities in treatment. Kelly served as the Clinical Coordinator for a team of therapists at an Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility in Michigan prior to her move to Florida.
Her role in the Link Program is allowing her to use her passion for assisting individuals in increasing their independence and obtaining employment. The opportunity to meld her professional expertise with her faith is proving to be exciting and fulfilling. Her mission is to help every Link student believe, without reservation, the words in Psalm 139:14, “You are fearfully and wonderfully made.” She enjoys working closely with faculty, staff, and students to make the Link Program succeed and grow.
Kelly has volunteered on several committees and in various leadership roles in her church and the Christian day school her children attended. She served from 2014-2020 on the Board of Christian Day School at St. Paul Lutheran Church, with the final three years as Chair. Kelly has been married to her husband since 2000. They have been blessed with a son and a daughter.
