Professor Lyndal Bedford returns to his alma mater as a professor in social work. He began his social work career in the fields of mental health and education. Lyndal worked as a mental health therapist, where he provided therapeutic counseling services and psychological testing reports for adolescents and adults. Alongside counseling services, Lyndal worked as an Executive Pastor/Congregational Social Worker in Mulberry, Florida where he bridged the gap between social services and pastoral care. He started a mental health support group that integrated Christian faith principles and offered support for those struggling with their mental health as church lay members.
Lyndal also worked as a school social worker for the PCPS, where he provided community resources to students and families throughout Polk County. He assisted local schools with bullying concerns, helped to evaluate students with disabilities, and provided counseling services and support through the school's mental health team.
Lyndal is a licensed clinical social worker and a qualified supervisor for the state of Florida and is licensed in additional states (NC, AL, VA). He is also the Founder, CEO and Clinical Director of Community Bridge Counseling Services, an online mental health practice offering clinical services. His passion for social work also shows up in his work in Christian community development, entrepreneurial studies, and social innovation. He volunteers his time co-leading behavioral health networks, participating in community projects, and serving as the SEU Social Work Advisory Council Faculty Liaison. Lyndal primarily teaches in the MSW program specializing in the practice oriented and macro-focus/administration courses.
