Marissa Beck-Dean, a native Floridian, holds a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Florida Southern College, a Master of Music degree in Voice Performance from the University of South Florida, and Master of Arts in World Language Education (German) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Operatic roles include the Third Lady in The Magic Flute, Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro, The Impresario in Viva la Mamma, the 2nd Knitter in A Game of Chance, and covering Flora in La Traviata. She has performed with Asheville Lyric Opera, USF Opera, Opera Tampa, the ISO Opera of Lakeland, the Tampa Bay Master Chorale, Lakeland Choral Society, Florida Pro Musica, Echo Early Music Society of Asheville, and the Asheville Festival Choir. Her career includes oratorio, and recital experience, a performance at Carnegie Hall, performances with the Bach Festival of Lakeland, FL, and the premiere of “Fallacies of Love,” a Greek Song Cycle that was written especially for her.
Marissa is currently a Voice Professor at Southeastern University and is a German instructor at Haines City High School International Baccalaureate program, where she has a thriving program in German language and culture. She resides in Lakeland with her husband Jonathon and their five sons.
