Master's in Math Education from the University of South Florida (Tampa, Florida 1999)
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Syracuse University (Syracuse, NY 1992)
My Name is Mike Marocco. I grew up in beautiful upstate NY. I loved high school, playing sports, and being involved in everything. After that, I earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Syracuse University, but in my heart, I always wanted to teach. So, after graduation, my brother and I moved to Lakeland, Florida. At that time, I taught as a substitute teacher and earned my Master's in Math Education from USF. I taught two years in middle school, then taught the next 28 years at George Jenkins High School. I loved my career as a high school teacher, teaching almost every course. My favorites were Calculus BC, AP Statistics, and DE Math through Southeastern University. I thoroughly enjoyed my teaching career because I love working with young people and watching them mature and move on to the next phase of their lives.
Over the past 20 years, my wife Shelby and I raised our two boys, John and Will. As a teacher, I was able to coach my boys at the YMCA and other recreational programs. We also got to watch our boys compete in track and cross country. Becoming a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ and raising my boys have been my life's passions.
My oldest son, Johnathan, is pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of Florida. My youngest son, William, is working and going to Polk State. Hopefully he will join his dad at Southeastern University one day!
My wife and I enjoy spending time with our boys and walking our dogs: Duke and Fonda! We attend Lakeland Vineyard with Dr. Britt and Mr. Baker. They are both pastors at our church and both work for SEU! I am thrilled to join them and work at this beautiful university. I love teaching and can't wait to get started!
