Dr. McEwen has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras, festivals, Opera Philadelphia, and many other ensembles. He completed his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in vocal performance and literature with a minor in pedagogy at the University of Rochester’s Eastman School of Music. He also holds a Master of Music degree from Eastman, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University, where he double-majored in biological sciences (with a concentration in microbiology) and music (magna cum laude).
Before commencing his time at Southeastern University, Nathaniel taught at Ithaca College as a sabbatical replacement. Until recently, he resided in Philadelphia, PA, teaching voice to numerous students at two community music schools in the suburbs and singing at an Eastern Orthodox Christian cathedral. However, he is originally from Upstate New York and, as such, remains a Buffalo Bills fan.
