Born in South Korea and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Seok Hee Jang is the Second Clarinet of the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra and is also the Adjunct Professor of Clarinet at Southeastern University in Lakeland. Seok Hee has shared the stage with many of today’s leading artists such as Yuja Wang, Anthony McGill, Chris Thile, and Emanuel Ax, and has performed in concert halls across North America as well as parts of Europe and Asia.
As an orchestral clarinetist in high demand, he is regularly asked to play with orchestras across Florida including the Jacksonville Symphony and The Florida Orchestra. His past performance highlights and engagements include tours of Portugal and Canada with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the South Korean Army Band, and the Orford Academy Orchestra.
Seok Hee is passionate about developing pedagogical methods that engage young musicians, and is currently writing a dissertation on intonation pedagogy for clarinetists. He has earned degrees at McGill University in Montreal, DePaul University in Chicago and is finishing a doctorate at the University of North Texas. His principal teachers include Alain Desgagné, Stephen Williamson and Phillip O. Paglialonga.
