Steven Fettke

Bio

Dr. Fettke taught at Southeastern University for forty years: from August 1, 1979 to June 30, 2019. Twice he was given the Academic Excellence Award (Faculty of the Year) at Southeastern University: in 1995 and 2008. He has also received the Excellence in Scholarship Award (2013). He was also given a National Teaching Award from the Alliance for Higher Education of the AG: Distinguished Educator, General Council of the AG, 2009.
Dr. Fettke was well known for teaching classes that focused on the biblical prophets, especially the prophet Jeremiah. He was famous among his students for his passion for the biblical narrative and faithfulness to the biblical text. He has published three books and several articles for peer-reviewed journals, two of which are these: “The Spirit of God Hovered Over the Waters: Creation, the local Church, and the Mentally and Physical Challenged, A Call to Spirit-led Ministry.” Journal for Pentecostal Theology 17 (2008): 170-182, and “A Pentecostal Theodicy? A Proposal.” Pneuma 38 (2016): 1-20.
Dr. Fettke is married to Lorraine K. “Tilly” Fettke, a (now retired) middle school guidance counselor in the public school system. The Fettkes have three children: Phillip and twin daughters: Stephanie and Sophia. The Fettkes’ son, Phillip, is a “special needs” child who is afflicted on the severe side of the autism spectrum, an affliction that renders him severely mentally disabled. The Fettkes have one grandson, Shepherd Levi Huffaker.
