Bio

Dr. Bill Hackett has served Southeastern since 1988, holding positions in teaching, administration and student development, including a five-year tenure as vice president for academic affairs (VPAA) and a ten-year tenure as Provost. He was appointed interim provost in 2011 and later named provost in the spring of 2012. His 15 years of practical ministry prior to coming to Southeastern — including positions as a senior pastor, associate pastor, youth pastor and high school and college teacher — are a rich source of experience and wisdom that Dr. Hackett passes on to his students.

Dr. Hackett’s excellence in teaching was recognized in 1992 and again in 2006 with Southeastern’s presentation to him of the Outstanding Faculty of the Year Award. In 2015 Dr. Hackett was recognized as the Delta Alpha Distinguished Educator by the Executive Presbytery of the Assemblies of God. In 2021, Dr. Hackett received the President’s Award from Dr. Kent Ingle.

Dr. Hackett also speaks in churches and in district schools of ministry, and he speaks regularly at Southeastern’s chapel services.

Dr. Hackett teaches practical ministry and Bible courses.

He and his wife Judy have been married since 1966, and they have two children, Molly and Joshua, and four grandchildren.
