SEU Doctoral Students Publish Book

Students from the Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership and Doctorate in Strategic Leadership programs at SEU are having their research collectively published as a book by an independent Christian publisher, Oikos Press. Titled “Historic Christian Followership: Principles from Exemplary Followers in Church History,” the project was a part of their coursework and intended to allow students to truly experience the peer review process.

“‘Historic Christian Followership’ was a fun project that was designed to prepare our students for academic publishing as part of their doctoral journey,” commented Dr. Joshua Henson, editor of the book and an associate professor in the Jannetides College of Business and Entrepreneurial Leadership.

After a double-blind peer review involving professors from other universities, 12 of 24 students had their chapter proposals selected for publication. The book explores individuals throughout history — both leaders and followers — whose Christian faith impacted the way they lived, worked and served. Beginning on Friday, October 1, the book will be available for purchase on Amazon.

“For me, this book speaks to the amazing doctoral students at SEU. These remarkable authors include AG pastors, a Church of God in Christ bishop, church planters, non-profit leaders, educational administrators and healthcare executives,” said Dr. Henson. “This is the first of many projects coming out of the program as we have students collaborating on major book projects, submitting to top academic journals in their fields and conducting cutting-edge research across multiple sectors of society.”
