At a home game on SEU’s campus this past week, Grand View University’s Kaitlyn Moses hit her first-ever grand slam — but she fell and was injured while she was running the bases. Because game rules specify that teammates cannot help touch the bases in the event of an injury, Kaitlyn’s teammates couldn’t assist her. But, the rules don’t specify that the opposing team can’t help. And that’s exactly what the SEU Softball team did — even though helping their opponent meant putting themselves behind on the scoreboard.
Chapel Cunningham, who was one of the Fire players who helped carry Kaitlyn, said, “We just knew it was the right thing to do…so we didn’t really think twice.”
They didn’t do it for recognition or attention, but simply because it’s the right thing to do and a very real way to show the love of Christ to others.
