SEU Student Personally Awarded Top Scholarship by Chick-fil-A CEO

We are so proud to announce that one of our remarkable students, Aaron Taher, was recently awarded a $25,000 scholarship through the Chick-fil-A Remarkable Futures™ scholarship program. Aaron was one of only 13 recipients out of over 20,000 eligible applicants that received the highest award tier.

The Surprise of a Lifetime

During his afternoon music class on February 25, Aaron was surprised with a personal award presentation by Chick-fil-A CEO Andrew T. Cathy.

Typically, the official scholarship presentations take place within the winners’ respective Chick-fil-A restaurants. However, as Aaron is currently in school on our Lakeland campus — and the Chick-fil-A restaurant where he is employed is in Michigan  — the award came to him.

Aaron’s family and the owner/operator of his Michigan Chick-fil-A also flew in for the surprise presentation.

The Selection Process

Every year, the Remarkable Futures™ scholarship program awards students who are employed at a franchised, company-owned, and/or affiliated Chick-fil-A restaurant with scholarships of $1,000, $2,500, or $25,000. These scholarships can be used at any accredited college, university, or technical/vocational school, and are available for both full-time and part-time students.

Award recipients are chosen through Scholarship America and an external committee of educators, entrepreneurs, and executives after being recommended by Chick-fil-A operators, interim managers, or executive general managers.

Aaron was selected for the highest tier scholarship due to his dedication and hard work in school, as well as within his Chick-fil-A restaurant and community.

Get to Know Aaron

“Aaron is multi-talented, highly intelligent, and works hard at everything he is asked to do — all while being completely dedicated to his lifelong mission in Christ,” expressed Dr. Tyson Voigt, dean of the SEU School of Music. “We could not be more proud to celebrate with him.”

Aaron is currently in his sophomore year at SEU, earning a bachelor’s degree in Commercial Music. He plays piano and viola, and he performs in the university’s orchestra and string quartet. He is also a member of SEU Worship, the university’s worship band.

Aaron emphasized, “This scholarship is so special and a huge answer to prayer. It brings me the confidence that God wants me at SEU to pursue my dreams. I’m so grateful to God’s guidance and provision in my life, and for this huge blessing!”
