About the Speaker

Commencement speaker Surratt originally planted Seacoast Church with the goal of reaching unchurched people in Charleston, South Carolina. Under his leadership, the church grew from meeting in a movie theater to being one of the first in the world to pioneer the multi-site approach to the weekend experience. Currently, Seacoast has a dozen campuses throughout South Carolina and North Carolina, as well as a large online community.

In addition to founding Seacoast, Surratt co-founded the Association of Related Churches, a global church-planting initiative that has established over 1,000 churches worldwide since its founding in 2000. He also founded The Pastors Collective to address the growing mental health crisis for pastors.
