As a university community, we were so honored to welcome Congressman Byron Donalds as our Spring 2026 Commencement speaker. Congressman Donalds addressed our graduates during our ceremony at the RP Funding Center on Friday, April 24.
Introducing Congressman Donalds
Congressman Donalds has represented and served the people of Florida’s 19th Congressional District since 2020. Distinguishing himself as a strong conservative leader, he advocates for the second amendment, school choice, fiscal efficiency, and a limited federal government.
First elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2016, Congressman Donalds made his mark as a champion for school choice and protecting parental rights in education. He led the effort to enact Hope Scholarships that empowered parents with school choice and passed a first-in-the-nation bill to allow parents and community members to review instructional materials in schools. He also chaired the House Insurance and Banking Subcommittee, working to strengthen the state’s economy and make Florida more affordable.
Congressman Donalds attended Florida State University and graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts in Finance and Marketing. His career path has included working in the finance, insurance, and banking industries in Southwest Florida.
