Explore our residence halls, apply for housing, get matched with a roommate, and find out what to bring to college.
While your individual needs may vary, here’s a good list of necessities to get you started.
*The twin beds in our dorms are extra-long, measuring 80 inches in length. Many home goods stores and websites sell this size bedding.
** Tip: Coordinate these purchases with your roommate(s) to save space and money.
While not necessary, you might consider these items to help you feel more at home.
(Just remember you can’t use anything permanent or damaging, such as nails, to attach anything to your dorm walls. Most students use items such as white sticky tack, which removes cleanly and does not damage the walls.)
While “campus casual” is the standard for attire around SEU, it’s a good idea to bring along a few professional-looking pieces of clothing for events such as in-class presentations, internship interviews or job fairs.
You’ll always want to stay connected, so be sure to bring your phone charger. If you prefer to tune in to music while you study, remember your headphones. Note that while you’re not required to own a computer, many students find that bringing their own laptop is very helpful, since it allows you to work and study just about anywhere. Wi-Fi is available throughout campus.
Once you complete step 5 of the admission process, be sure to submit your housing application. Housing applications are required for all traditional, undergraduate students whether or not you are living on campus. Get started here.
Save Your Spot at SEU
If you haven't already, complete Step 5 of the admission process (saving your spot and setting up your student account).
Complete Your Housing Application in JICS
Log in to JICS and choose the Housing tab to find and complete the housing application. Please allow 24 hours from when you save your spot for this link to appear.
Find Your Roommate
Once you complete your housing application, check your SEU email for a link with instructions on geting started with My College Roomie, our roommate matching software. (This email may take up to 24 hours to arrive.)
Additional Requests
Our roommate matching software will allow you to select 1 roommate. If you have additional roommates/suite mates in mind, email us at studenthousing@seu.edu and we'll do our best to accommodate your request.
If you complete your housing application and match with a roommate by May 1, your housing assignment will be released by May 31!
Completing your housing application after May 1? Don’t worry! You will still have an opportunity to search for a roommate on My College Roomie, but choices are not guaranteed. You’ll get your assignment within 30 days of completing the housing application.
All students must complete a housing application, even if you are planning to commute. (The application will ask you to verify which requirement you meet for living off campus.)
